International Women's Day celebration under occupation

According to Ariana TV, the US/NATO-installed regime in Kabul on the occasion of International Women's Day, inaugurated a women's prison in Jawzjan province as a gift to the women of Afghanistan!

The puppet regime of Karzai and his imperialist supporters shamelessly talk about improving women situation, while the UN and Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission express their deep concern over the human rights and especially women rights situation in Afghanistan.

The puppet regime in order to show itself as a democratic and women rights defender, set up a symbolic ministry of women and positioned some dummy women in parliament and government administrations who never represent the depressed and deprived millions of women who, since last seven years have been experiencing more deteriorated situation than the time of Taliban in many fields.

The Karzai regime is mainly composed of Northern Alliance –the collaborative fundamentalists such as Sayaf, Rabani, Khalili, Mohaqiq, Qanoni, Fahim, Abdullah –that in the time of their Islamic government from 1992-1996 implemented strict Shari and committed heinous crimes against women as the Taliban.

The people of Afghanistan especially the women expected the "international community" and the "Peace angels" to draw all these anti-women and criminal gangs to an open trial, but the "international community"owing to their own interests neglected their anti-women nature and criminal background; not only they were not punished but also granted key positions in the government.

The high-ranked elements in US/NATO-installed regime in Kabul based on their medieval thoughts never believed in women rights and women folk as human beings.

So, the puppet regime, "civil society" organizations and NGOs that have been crying for the restoration of women rights, in fact are attempting to deceive the people and "international community" for receiving attractive funds.

Today under US/NATO occupation "peace mission" in Afghanistan the women of Afghanistan have no access to health facilities and to the corrupt judicial administrations. The rate of illiteracy and mental diseases is very high among the women. The corrupt and mafia-installed regime in Kabul because of poverty, unemployment and high prices of basic items forced many women to begging, prostitution and even to sell their children and commit suicide. Rape and abduction and sexual abuse of women and girls even by police and NATO troops is a general bitter truth that is rarely open in the media.

Fawzai Kofi a female member of the Parliament exposed to the media a hidden truth about the pregnancy and sex abuse of female prisoners in Policharkhi jail by Afghan police in early 2008. The same news was reported from other prisons such as Lashkargah.

But according to CNN, NATO troops rape Afghan girls during their operations and home searching specially in the Southern provinces. A 12 years old girl was raped by NATO troops in Jan. 2009, while the victim's parents warned the government and NATO if they were not given justice, they would commit suicide. In Afghanistan there are many families who because of their Afghan culture and place in society never disclose and complain about the victims of sex abuse of their family members by NATO troops.

In the end of 2008, US troops attacked a home in Khost province and besides killing of male members of the family, madly let the wild dogs on the children and women to bite and kill them.

Yes, these were some examples of the real women situation to be celebrated under occupation in US/NATO"Peace mission", "Restoring democracy" , "Human rights" , "women rights" and " civil society" in Afghanistan!!

Afghanistan Socialist Association (ASA) believes that the slogan of women rights and freedom under occupation and expecting the imperialists to respect and restore the women rights would be only a sweet dream.

The US/NATO imperialists have been seeking their own strategic interests in Afghanistan and in the region and they can simply ignore and suppress any law, moral value and human rights standards and commitment for their dirty interests. As said, given key role to anti-women and reactionary Northern Alliance in Karzai regime during last seven years and suggestion for negotiation with Taliban pave the way for collaboration and sharing power, prove our claim.

ASA, call on all progressive women and organizations in Afghanistan and around the world to stand against the US/ NATO occupation and oppose their puppet anti-women and anti-secularism regime which has been trying based on the new constitution to introduce Islamic law against the women and progressive forces in Afghanistan.

We expect all progressive and women rights defender organizations, not to be deceived by the colorful promises and celebrations by the puppet regime and its imperialist masters.

– Long live solidarity between the oppressed and depressed women of Afghanistan and progressive women around the world!
