Solidarity message to the Adelitas brigades in Mexico

Radical Women salutes the courageous Adelitas who led protests of the Mexican Senate and Chamber of Deputies attempt to privatize the Mexican oil industries. We stand in solidarity with the thousands who laid siege to the legislatures in an effort to stop the government from giving international corporations the people's valuable energy resource. We applaud this cry of “Enough.” The wealth and power these corporations wield is already a threat to the future of the world.

Here in the U.S. women, especially women of color and immigrant women, pay the highest price for privatization and cuts in government subsides for food, housing, education and healthcare. No one needs fundamental social change more than women who are the majority of every oppressed group on the face of the earth. The leadership of the Adelita brigades is an inspiration to the entire hemisphere.
