Take action for Afghan women on Oct 7
The women of Afghanistan are asking for our help. The Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Women (SMAW), a courageous grassroots organization based in Kabul, is calling for global action on October 7, the anniversary of the U.S. so-called “War on Terror” in Afghanistan. After a deadly 20-year occupation, the U.S. withdrew and installed the Taliban, which has cruelly excluded women from all aspects of life: working, attending school, being in public without a male escort, and more. SMAW is asking for international pressure on Western governments “to grant immediate and unconditional asylum to Afghan women who are being hunted down and threatened with death because they have dared to fight for their rights.”
Please take part in Radical Women’s social media campaign to show the women of Afghanistan they are not alone and to call on our governments to take action. Take a photo of yourself in the next few days with one of the attached signs and send to RW.US@radicalwomen.org for us to put on Facebook and Instagram pages on October 7. Post on your own social media as well. Ask your organizations to take part and spread the word. Let’s show the people of Afghanistan that we want to relieve their suffering and have not forgotten them.
