"Don't Scrooge Around With Basic Health"
Washington State Democrats are holding a holiday party at the Convention Center to "celebrate the year's victories." What are they thinking? The Basic Health Plan and other vital services are on the chopping block, unemployment is rising, national health "deform" is undermining the rights of women and immigrants, and the war in the Middle East is expanding. Basic Health already has more people on the waiting list than are on the plan. Thousands more will be forced off due to rate increases. Governor Gregoire is threatening to eliminate the whole program, which provides vital medical coverage to the working poor.
Express your outrage! Demand that politicians preserve and expand the Basic Health Plan and other survival needs by instituting an income tax on corporate profits and the wealthy.
Meet at the corner of 8th Ave. and Pike St. in downtown Seattle this Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4:30pm. If you want, come dressed in bandages and rags – like someone who couldn't afford medical care after getting run over by a reindeer!
