Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Radical Women socialist?
RW believes that the liberation of women is indissolubly linked to the battle against all the burning injustices that define capitalism…. Read more
Does RW support rights of trans people?
Absolutely. We are for bodily autonomy for all people and are on the front lines with transpeople being targeted by the far right. Read our analysis of the transphobic “feminist” movement here.
How does Radical Women combat racism?
RW is a multi-racial organization that prioritizes the fight against racism and building the leadership of women of color and LGBTQI+ people of color. RW’s intersectionality is based on the interconnections between race, gender and class. Radical Women is active in movements of color and works to directly address racism in all the movements as well as within our own organization. RW has a Comrades of Color Caucus (CCC) jointly with our sister organization, the Freedom Socialist Party. The CCC comprises members of color of diverse races and ethnicities. It is a leadership body that analyzes issues of concern to people of color, makes proposals for action, and promotes the growth of leaders of color. Read RW documents on these issues.
What does Radical Women DO?
Our strategy and tactics vary depending on the issue and goal of a particular campaign. We have lobbied, testified at legislative meetings, mobilized protests, done civil disobedience, written newspaper articles, launched PR campaigns to educate and generate media around a specific issue, hosted community meetings and events, passed resolutions in unions and labor councils, initiated marches, and joined with others in community coalitions. Check out the activities of national U.S., Seattle, Melbourne, Australia, and National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice.
How is Radical Women different from other feminist or left groups?
RW is unique in fighting on an intersectional range of issues while prioritizing the special challenges faced by women. We consciously build and support the leadership of working-class women, particularly women of color and LGBTQI+ people. We are revolutionary socialists, seeking deep-going change, not just surface reforms. We operate with democracy, inclusivity, solidarity, and optimism!
